Briar String Quartet
The Briar String Quartet is a dynamic ensemble with classical roots and a keen interest in collaboration outside of their traditional genre.
Based in Melbourne, Australia, the group was founded in late 2015 by violinist Navin Gulavita, violist Georgia Stibbard, and cellist Sage Fuller, while on a tour of Mainland China with the Australian International Opera Company. It was on the Federation Square stage at White Night Melbourne in 2017 that marked their first public appearance with fourth member and violinist Maxim Sheko. Now they perform across Australia in chamber concerts, weddings, and special projects with the introduction of their Brisbane branch.
In 2016 they were featured on local radio station 3MBS for their work with Australian composers Carol Dixon and Sarah Thompson. The quartet is also experienced in the studio having worked as session musicians for a number of local artists including Run Rabbit Run, Pekoe, and also commissioning works of their own. In 2017 Briar String Quartet completed an immersive period of study alongside the Australian String Quartet at the Adelaide Chamber Music School.
