Sage remembers the butterflies and excitement she felt in her very first cello lesson. After being dragged to the piano for 8 years, it wasn’t until she found the cello that she knew she had discovered the great musical love of her life. Since that time she has developed into a creative and enthusiastic musician, with a passion for both classical and contemporary folk music.
During high school years Sage participated in the best educational programs Melbourne had to offer, including State Music Camp, Melbourne Youth Music, and workshops with the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra and Australian Chamber Orchestra. Later while completing her Bachelor of Music degree at Monash University, she was accepted into a summer program at New York University, where she studied chamber music with Marion Feldman and Stephanie Chase.
In 2015 she was awarded the John Tallis Beleura Bursary Grand Prize from the Peninsula Music Society, which funded her travel to Italy a year later to attend a short course with internationally renowned cellists Raphael Wallfisch, Sebastian Comberti, and Roel Dieltiens. Sage has also toured Mainland China with the Australian International Opera Company.
Sage graduated from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music (Degree with Honours) in 2017. She now dedicates her spare time to growing as a singer-songwriter-cellist, teaching in schools, and baking.
